Sequel of the turn-based RPG

Monster Hunter Stories Monster Hunter Stories 2: The Wings of Ruin is a sequel to Monster Hunter Stories for console. In Monster Hunter Stories, you play the role of a 'monster rider.’ Unlike the franchise's titular 'monster hunters,' who seek to slay monsters, riders want to domesticate beasts to preserve the balance of life.

You achieve this with an ancient magical device known as 'Kinship Stones.' It has the ability to dress and empower a Rider's monster (also referred to as Monstie by Riders). However, they are only prepared to fight and kill wild beasts as a last resort.

Will there be a Monster Hunter Stories 2?

Yes. Monster Hunter Stories 2: The Wings of Ruin opens as the coastal Mahana Village celebrates a festival that turns from happy to ominous as the waves turn bloody crimson and dragon-like Rathalos monsters attack. After the phenomenon is investigated, you come across a white-haired girl who you suspect has the egg birthed by the last Rathalos — which could be a sign that the world will end soon.

Like other Monster Hunter titles, you will be playing as the quiet protagonist who mostly replies with grunts, scoffs, and nods. You’re considered a hero. You’re provided with a wide array of customization tools for your character. The game is an amazingly robust maker of characters that gives players the ability to design a player that they like.

In the Mahana Village, residents are monster riders who work with beasts to police and defend the area around them. The biggest departure from the usual Monster Hunter formula is the absence of, surprisingly, hunting. Instead, the hunting part takes the form of Monsties, the Monster Hunter equivalent to Pokémons.

New and exciting times in Mahana

Those who enjoy the main games may find Wings of Ruin to be different from what they enjoy about the series; Monster Hunter Stories: Wings of Ruin is certainly different from the usual Monster Hunter formula, but it shapes an appealing prospect for players looking for something a little larger to entice them into the game’s amazing universe.
